What is a standard?
In the litigious business environment that power sweepers operate, NAPSA has begun bringing order to chaos. NAPSA is an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer. This standard has set out basic guidelines for best practices in power sweeping. Why is this important? The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is the voice of the U.S. standards and conformity assessment system. ANSI guides its developer members and audits their process to strengthen the U.S. marketplace position in the global economy while helping to assure the safety and health of consumers and the protection of the environment. The Institute enhances thousands of norms by developing process principles for standards to be written. Organizations such as NAPSA apply to become a standards developer after agreeing and demonstrating that they adhere to the ANSI parameters. These parameters attempt to insure balance among the stakeholders and public who are affected by the standard. For NAPSA, the timeline for approval as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer and approval of the first standard has been nearly three years.
